Are you a spectacle wearer (aged 18-35) interested in trying contact lenses for the first time?
Ethics ref; 2019-7208-11186
Eurolens Research (The University of Manchester) requires volunteers for a study comparing the performance of a test contact lens with that of spectacles in 76 volunteers who have never worn contact lenses and who regularly use digital devices (such as phones, tablets, computers). Volunteers will be randomly assigned to EITHER the contact lens group or the spectacle group and, therefore, should be willing to participate if they are assigned to either of these groups.
Inclusion Criteria Volunteers should be aged 18 and 35 years (inclusive), routinely wear spectacles, never have worn contact lenses (except for a trial fitting, lasting less than 1 week) and typically use digital devices for a minimum of four hours per day. Vision prescription criteria also apply. People with some eye or health problems, and women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, are unable to participate.
Duration and Appointments Volunteers will be required to attend up to four visits over approximately 2 months, each visiting lasting between 60 and 90 minutes. Volunteers assigned to the contact lens group will be required to undergo contact lens training which may require an additional or extended visit.
Payment Volunteers completing this study will be reimbursed for their time. If you do not complete the study, a pro-rata payment will be issued; that is payment will be based on the amount of time you have spent at the clinic. During the study, contact lens products will be provided free of charge. Travel costs or loss of earnings from your participation will be at your own expense.
