Measuring listening levels in personal music player use

Description

We are looking for university staff and students who regularly listen to music using earphones and headphones to take part in a study about listening habits and how people set their listening volume. This study is part of a Masters research project at the University of Manchester.

Participation involves a single 90-minute testing session in our labs at the University of Manchester. You will be asked to answer some questions relating to your hearing and noise exposure history, and then asked to listen to some songs of your choosing on your own earphones/headphones while we measure the sounds levels produced.

To be eligible for inclusion in this study, participants must:
•             Be aged 18+ years
•             Use earphones or headphones for listening to music
•             Not have any known hearing problems.

You will be reimbursed for your time.

If you are interested in taking part or if you require more information, please contact: Tessa Thomas - tessa.thomas@postgrad.manchester.ac.uk

This Project Has Been Approved by the Division of Psychology, Communication and Human Neuroscience Ethics Committee (ref no: 2025-22723-42873).
