PDRs
Discussion of the PDR process:
A session for Alliance MBS academic colleagues carrying out P&DR Reviews and those with roles as Senior Reviewers was held on Monday 30 June 2025 discussing and answering questions about the PDR process.
Anna Goatman (Director of Teaching & Learning) and Heiner Evanschitzky (Director of Research) and Sarah Lindop (People Partner) discussed the setting of appropriate objectives around teaching and research, and how to support career development discussions for colleagues within the School.
The session provided information and advice for Reviewers and Senior Reviewers specifically in the context of AMBS, and included discussion of the School’s aspirations and expectations for teaching and research, the types of information which individuals can provide and reviewers can consider which demonstrate achievement; the important links to promotions and workforce planning; and the support available to colleagues for personal development.
Colleagues can access the presentations below:
A recording of the session is also available along with:
Personal Research Expectations Plan
The Faculty of Humanities Personal Research Expectations Plan (PREP) provides the basis for structured, formative and supportive advice to academics on their mid to long term research career plans. PREP meetings are an annual opportunity to reflect on, and refine, personal research plans. They also provide an opportunity to discuss the internal support available (e.g. funding, peer review, training) and the contribution which the individual’s research plan makes to progressing the School’s research strategy and priorities (including preparation for the Research Excellence Framework).
PREPs should be carried out once a year by a senior academic ahead of, or at the time of, the annual PDR review. The reviewer should have experience of the individual’s research field and an awareness of discipline specific research expectations and norms.
The PREP record can also be used in mentoring meetings as a document to guide discussion and planning.
Access the PREP document here.
