Academic advising
The AMBS Academic Advising scheme allows students, academics and professional support staff to work together towards the personal, professional and academic development of the students.
As an Academic Advisor, you are responsible for providing support and signposting students across the following areas:
- academic support;
- feedback and assessment;
- careers & employability;
- extracurricular activities;
- specialist support services.
Details about the AMBS academic advising schemes can be found in the Academic Advising guide.
Support for Academic Advisors
The online Academic Advising toolkit contains information to support you in your role as an academic advisor, i.e. links to policies or information about student support services. The toolkit and the online training course can be found here.
The Senior Student Support Officer on Academic Advising will also be able to support you in your role as Academic Advisor.
The University's Policy on Advising Taught Students applies to academic staff who undertake an Advising role, to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, all of whom will have been assigned at least one Advisor, and to Professional Support Services staff who support the Advising role. Further guidance on advising can also be found here.
