Changes to recruitment training requirements
04 Mar 2026
What's changing and why
Over the past year, we have reviewed how recruitment training is delivered and refreshed. The previous approach—digital learning plus a face-to-face workshop every two years—was creating delays, lastminute booking pressures, and inconsistent training experiences.
To make the process simpler, more accessible, and more consistent, People Exec has agreed a revised approach.
Updated mandatory requirement
Recruitment training will now consist of three mandatory on demand eLearning modules, refreshed every two years:
These self paced modules replace the requirement to attend a workshop and make training easier to access at any time.
Focus On Recruitment – recommended practical skills workshop
Alongside the mandatory training, colleagues can choose to attend our optional Focus On Recruitment workshop. This session builds confidence and practical skills in applying best practice recruitment, including:
- Effective shortlisting
- Designing assessments
- Setting up and running interviews
- Practising interview techniques in a safe, supported environment
The workshop is optional and does not require refreshing, but we strongly recommend it for colleagues new to recruitment or those wanting a more practical, skills-based session.
What managers need to do now
- Please ensure all colleagues involved in recruitment are aware of the updated mandatory requirements.
- Colleagues who have already completed training will only need to refresh it when their two year cycle is due.
