Logo usage policy

Purpose

This policy governs the usage of the University logo across all digital and print media. The policy aims to ensure the logo is used consistently, maintains brand integrity, and reflects the University's values and identity. The policy also regulates third-party use of the logo and the conditions under which the logo can be shared with external entities.

Scope and permissions

University departments and staff: Use of the University logo by any internal department, Faculty, or staff member must comply with this policy. The logo may only be used for official University-related purposes (see logo usage matrix below). Students wishing to use the logo must be sponsored by an academic or a member of staff and have a clear University-related purpose.

Third-party partners: Third parties—including institutions, entities, or individuals working with or on behalf of the University—are only permitted to use the University logo or name with prior written permission.

Visual identity compliance

Brand Standards: All approved users of the University logo must follow the University’s visual identity guidelines, including specific requirements on logo size, positioning, colours, and font usage. The logo should not be altered or modified in any way that could misrepresent the brand or degrade its integrity.

Reproduction Quality: The logo must be reproduced at a quality appropriate to the medium, ensuring that the logo’s colours, resolution, and proportions are maintained. No user is permitted to alter the logo design, colours, or typography.

Request process for logo use

Third parties requesting permission to use the University logo must submit a request to the University Marketing team, detailing the intended usage, audience, and distribution channels (e.g., website, social media, printed materials). The request must include details on the purpose of the logo use and any intended partnership or promotional activities.

Approval is subject to compliance with this policy and may be revoked if the logo is used in a way that contradicts the guidelines or negatively impacts the University’s brand.

Compliance and enforcement

The University reserves the right to audit and review all uses of its logo. Any usage found to be in violation of this policy may result in removal of permissions, termination of partnerships, or legal action as appropriate.
