Logo usage guidance (digital use only)

Purpose

This guidance outlines recommended use of the University logo across all digital platforms. It aims to ensure consistent usage, maintain brand integrity, and reflect the University's values and identity in digital environments. It also outlines conditions for third-party use in digital contexts.

Scope and permissions

  • University departments and staff: The logo may only be used by internal departments, Faculties, or staff for official University-related digital purposes (see usage matrix below).
  • Third-party partners: External organisations or individuals working with or on behalf of the University must obtain approval to use the University logo in any digital context.

Brand compliance

  • Brand standards: All approved users must adhere to the University’s digital brand guidelines specific to logo usage. This includes rules on logo size, positioning, colours, and exclusion zone. The logo must not be altered, distorted, or used in any way that misrepresents or undermines the University’s identity.
  • Reproduction quality: The logo must appear at a high resolution suitable for digital platforms. Colours, proportions, and clarity must be preserved. Alterations to the logo’s design, colour palette, or font are not permitted.

Request process for digital logo use

Third parties must submit a request to the University Marketing team, clearly stating:

  • The intended digital use (e.g. website, social media, email campaigns)
  • The target audience
  • The purpose of use
  • Any related partnership or promotional context

Approval is conditional on compliance with this policy and may be withdrawn if misuse is identified.

Compliance and Enforcement

The University reserves the right to audit all digital uses of its logo. Unauthorised or inappropriate use may result in the removal of permissions, termination of digital partnerships, or legal action where necessary.
