Share your perspective in the Global Humanities Alliance Challenge: Democracy in Action

Staff and students at the University of Manchester are invited to take part in Democracy in Action, a new creative challenge from the Global Humanities Alliance (GHA) that explores how democracy is experienced in everyday life.

The challenge asks participants to capture and reflect on democracy on campus and at the local, regional and national levels through a photograph or a short-written reflection, with the aim of showcasing the many ways democracy is lived, remembered, debated and imagined through the lens of the Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Selected submissions will be exhibited at the Global Humanities Alliance Annual Meeting at the University of Melbourne, Australia, taking place from 26 to 29 October 2026. Entries may also be featured on the GHA website and social media channels, as well as those of participating member universities.
