Course Unit Framework: Attend a drop-in session

23 Mar 2026

Colleagues are invited to attend a drop-in session to find out more about the new Course Unit Framework and its implementation.

Following the launch of the Course Unit Framework, colleagues are invited to attend a drop-in session hosted by Fiona Smyth, Deputy Dean and Vice-Dean of Teaching, Learning and Students, to find out more about the Framework and how it will be implemented.

The Course Unit Framework sets out a series of principles and guidelines designed to enhance our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes while making them easier to manage and deliver.

Colleagues can attend one of two sessions, taking place on:

  • Wednesday, 15 April, 10.00–10.50am (on campus – location TBC)
  • Thursday, 16 April, 9.00–9.50am (online via Teams)

If you wish to attend one of these sessions, please use the online form to register and you will receive a calendar invitation.

To further support colleagues in implementing the Framework, an online guide has been published. The guide brings together key materials to support the design, planning and delivery of teaching under the new Framework. It is intended for both academic and PS colleagues and includes key principles, templates, examples and practical tools to support consistent, high-quality curriculum design across the Faculty.

Whether colleagues are updating existing units or creating new ones, the guide provides clear guidance and resources to help apply the Framework. Colleagues are also encouraged to review the assumptions that underpin the framework.

Implementation will take place in phases over a five-year period, beginning in 2025/26 and leading to full implementation across all undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes by 2030/31. The timing and sequencing of activity will be determined locally at School level and implementation will be coordinated through School-based working groups led by the Directors of Teaching and Learning, who will oversee activity across the five-year period.

The guide will continue to be updated over the coming weeks and months as implementation progresses, ensuring colleagues have access to the latest information and resources.
