Planned network disruption on 17 and 19 February

05 Feb 2026

There is planned disruption to network services overnight on 17 and 19 February due to essential work taking place in our data centres.

What is happening?

The network that connects the University underpins everything we do, which is why essential works have been planned to ensure our network is as stable, resilient and future-ready as it can be.

On the evenings of Tuesday, 17 and Thursday, 19 February, essential work in our data centres is planned as part of a project that is investing in upgrading legacy systems to ensure our network and its services are reliable and supported.

This will mean some service disruptions, but works have been scheduled out of hours to ensure minimal disturbance. It is anticipated the Commercial and High Energy Physics network links will experience an outage in service and be unavailable.

IT colleagues will be monitoring affected services to ensure everything returns to normal as expected.

Thank you for your patience and support over the coming weeks. The Network 2030 team is available to answer any questions via their mailbox and more information about this work and the wider programme is available via StaffNet.
