Take part in the Experimental Archaeology Club's upcoming workshops

Join the Experimental Archaeology Club in exploring the practical side of learning about the past.

The Experimental Archaeology Club

The Experimental Archaeology Club are hosting a series of workshops exploring crafts from different periods and places inspired by real artefacts. Colleagues will have the chance to learn new skills ranging from pottery, to stone tool making, to cave art, and more! Sessions are free for all staff and no previous experience of archaeology is required.

Upcoming workshops

Unboxing the Collection, Monday, 8 December, 11am-1pm, Mansfield Cooper Building, 4.03 Archaeology Labs

  • Take part in a creative observational journey exploring the archaeology archives through all five senses
  • Reimagine objects from the collection from alternative perspectives, human and otherwise
  • Produce creative projects (poems, sketches, collages, etc.) to capture the stories of the artefacts

Historia Normannis collab, Wednesday, 10 December, 1-3pm, Mansfield Cooper Building, 4.03 Archaeology Labs

  • Join a collaborative taster session in leathermaking with 12th century re-enactment group Historia Normannis

Christmas special: The Story of Krampus, Friday, 12 December, 12-1.30pm, Mansfield Cooper Building, 4.03 Archaeology Labs

  • Explore the history and lore of Krampus, the 'anti-Santa'
  • Make clay gifts to ward him from your home this festive season
