Commercialisation opportunity for PhD students

An opportunity for PhD supervisors to share with their students.

If you are a PhD supervisor with students interested in turning their research into a deeptech startup, they can learn how through the University-sponsored Conception X Venture Scientist programme. They can sign up for an online discovery session on Thursday, 30 October or an on-campus discovery session on Tuesday, 18 November or online discovery session (30th October) to find out more.

Whether they are ready to launch a startup now or are simply looking to explore research commercialisation, this programme includes training, coaching and mentoring to support them to launch their own deeptech startup based on their research. They can be at any stage in their PhD and aren’t required to have an existing venture to apply. This is the offer:

  • Nine-month programme of dedicated training sessions and personalised coaching
  • Fits around existing PhD commitments
  • Learn how to commercialise research and develop an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Make valuable connections with leading members of the UK deeptech community
  • Find out how to secure innovation grants and venture capital funding

The programme commences in March 2026 and places are limited.
