Research into Multiple Sclerosis is highly commended

Dr Abigail Methley has received a Highly Commended award from the 2016 Emerald/European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards in the Healthcare Management category for her research, ‘Health care services for multiple sclerosis: The experiences of people with multiple sclerosis and health care professionals’.

Dr Methley is a former PhD student of Dr Sudeh Cheraghi-sohi, and Professor Stephen Campbell in the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research & Primary Care.

Now a trainee Clinical Psychologist in the Faculty, Abigail said: “I’m delighted to receive this award and would like to thank participants in this research, my supervisory team, and the NIHR School for Primary Care Research. I look forward to using these findings in the further research and development of mental health services for people with MS.”

Abigail’s supervisor, Dr Sudeh Cheraghi-Sohi, a former recipient of the award herself, said: “Abi was passionate about the topic and extremely motivated, balancing the needs of her PhD whilst continuing her clinic work as an Assistant Psychologist. We are extremely pleased that she has received this accolade, it is well deserved.”
