Performance and Development Review (P&DR)

One of the clearest messages coming from the Staff Survey 2013 was the dissatisfaction with the current P&DR process. Related to this issue is the topic of work-life balance (which covers workload management, time management and the opportunity to take breaks).

A P&DR Review Group, led by Professor Martin Humphries, Vice-President and Dean for the Faculty of Life Sciences, and Karen Heaton, Director of Human Resources, has developed proposals for a new P&DR system for all occupational types, including an online system to manage all P&DR reports and a comprehensive training schedule for all reviewers and reviewees.

A significant amount of development has taken place to turn initial proposals into a value-adding process for individuals and their line managers. The next few months should see the remainder of the development work nearing completion. Discussions are currently ongoing with the campus trade unions and a training and communications plan is in development. It’s anticipated that the new P&DR process will be ready to pilot after the summer.
