Wellbeing and Time to Talk Sessions

Our ‘Starting Well in 2024’ campaign in January offered colleagues the opportunity to engage with a range of wellbeing activities. It encouraged colleagues to take some time to think about smalls steps you can take to help move into 2024 with a stronger focus towards looking after you.

These sessions had excellent engagement, most notably the in-person Menopause talks with Dr. Zoe Hodson packing out the room for both sessions. The Dealing with Overwhelm webinar hosted by Heather Beach, Healthy Work Company, offered some useful tips to help manage wellbeing in times of stress. In case you missed it, watch the session Dealing with Overwhelm with Heather Beach

Time To Talk Day on Thursday, 1 February presented a great opportunity across the university for colleagues to connect. Teams came together over a brew, crafting activities or just simply going out for a 20-minute walk to mark Time To Talk Day and have a conversation with someone.

Talking to people about wellbeing and checking in with someone does not just take place on Time To Talk Day, it is something we can do every day with colleagues, family members and friends. Not sure how to start the conversation? Keep in mind to ask twice. ‘Hi, how are you?’…. (a little further into the conversation) ‘so how are you really doing/how are things/how are you coping/how are you managing?’.

We look forward to connecting with even more colleagues in wellbeing events and activities throughout the year.
