Lunchtime session: Mindfulness for the menopause

23 Nov 2022

Take a break and join us for a 50-minute session on Tuesday, 6 December

Menopause session

We are delighted to offer colleagues a Mindfulness for the Menopause session on Tuesday, 6 December 2022 in the Wellbeing Room (G.66) which is located on the ground floor of the Simon Building. The session will start at 1.15pm.

This 50-minute in person session is open to all colleagues and will be an opportunity to take a break from your work and explore mindfulness tools to support you with your menopause journey. There will be an opportunity to practice some short meditations, to learn about managing your mind through the menopause, to share our experiences and support each other's wellbeing.

The session will be led by Anita Banerji, an experienced meditator and accredited mindfulness teacher who works as a researcher at our University. Anita originally trained and taught at Manchester Buddhist Centre and also trained as a mindfulness teacher with Breathworks to teach their Mindfulness for Health and Mindfulness for Stress courses.

She has found mindfulness very helpful for her own menopause journey and has kindly volunteered to support our menopause work by delivering this session.

Please note the session is suitable for anyone with mental or physical menopausal symptoms of any kind. However, it is not recommended for those with an acute mental health problem, psychiatric condition, trauma or who are recently bereaved, without first taking advice from a healthcare professional.

Due to the nature of the event, it will be sedentary (chairs will be available) and you don’t need any special clothing or equipment.

There are 30 places available for the session - book your place.
