Safeguarding letters

  • For new students:

All safeguarding checks for new students are completed by the PGCE Admissions team following DfE ITT criteria and supporting advice. Teacher Education will produce safeguarding letters for fully compliant students starting from 1 August once they have matriculated successfully. Non-compliant students will also receive a non-compliant safeguarding letter stating non-completed components before their first placement. Students will normally receive their safeguarding letters approximately one week before their first day in school. Students are expected to bring their safeguarding letters and DBS certificate to their placement schools. If schools have any queries regarding safeguarding letters, please direct them to teachereducation@manchester.ac.uk.

  • For returners:

All safeguarding checks for new students are completed by SEED Student Support and Wellbeing team seed.wellbeing@manchester.ac.uk. Teacher Education will produce a new safeguarding letter for all returning students once they have completed their checks. Students will receive their safeguarding letters as soon as they are produced. Students are expected to bring their safeguarding letters and DBS certificate to their placement schools. If schools have any queries regarding safeguarding letters, please direct them to teachereducation@manchester.ac.uk.
