Celebrating 18 Years at Manchester Institute of Education: Lise Hopwood Retires

As Lise Hopwood, Teaching Fellow (Primary PGCE), retires this month, we would like to recognise and celebrate her outstanding contribution to The University of Manchester and the Manchester Institute of Education (MIE)

Lise joined MIE in 2008 as a Teaching Fellow and has dedicated much of her career to the Primary PGCE programme, where she played a pivotal role in English Initial Teacher Education. Through her teaching, mentorship and support of trainee teachers, she has helped shape the careers of countless educators who have gone on to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people in schools locally and nationally.

Alongside her contributions to ITE, Lise has more recently made a significant impact across a range of education programmes within MIE. She has served as Deputy Programme Director for the MA International Education Programme and as Teaching Assistant Co-ordinator, bringing commitment, expertise and care to every aspect of her work.

Throughout her time at Manchester, Lise has been a valued colleague whose professionalism, generosity and dedication to students have enriched our community. Her commitment to teacher education and to the wider work of MIE has been greatly appreciated by colleagues and students alike.

We thank Lise for her many years of service and wish her every happiness and success in her retirement.
