Why Your Voice Matters in SEED
20 Mar 2026
A message from David Pattwell, SEED Director of School Operations
As you’ve hopefully seen, colleagues across the University are currently being asked to share their feedback through the Staff Survey. The ‘Your Voice Matters’ survey takes place every year and is a vital barometer to help leaders at a central, faculty and school level to understand what staff are thinking and feeling and where there are issues that need to be addressed.
Across the University over 400 actions have been taken as a result of the findings of last year’s survey.
Here in SEED we’re making changes in five key areas: improving staff wellbeing, strengthening line management relationships, addressing stress at work, communicating about changes within the School and wider University, and supporting career development.
Over the last year we’ve recruited more Wellbeing Champions and increased our staff wellbeing activities. We’re working with HoDs to make sure all colleagues have ongoing career development support and a meaningful annual PDR. We’ve instituted new inclusive meetings guidance and overhauled our communications to try to make sure you’re getting the information you need.
Most recently we’ve been working to roll-out a new learning and development dashboard for PS staff in SEED, which will allow colleagues to track their learning and professional growth. We’re in the final stages of development for this platform, with a plan to provide all SEED PS staff with access to it by the end of semester 2.
As I write this a week after the survey has launched, around 25% of SEED colleagues have completed the Staff Survey. That’s a great start, but if you’re one of the three quarters of colleagues who haven’t yet filled it in, please do take ten minutes to complete the survey before it closes on 31st March.
You’ll have been emailed a link (which is unique to you) by People Insight – you should have received that email on 10th March. If you can’t find the invite email, or if you've accidentally deleted it, please click here and enter your staff ID number (printed on your staff badge) to access the survey.
