World in Flux: Weaving Interdisciplinary Responses to Global Challenges
Thursday 28th May 2026
University of Manchester, The Hive, Alliance Manchester Business School, Booth Street West, Manchester M15 6PB
The World in Flux Conference will explore the reality of confronting global crises that continually evolve, revealing new and shifting dimensions with every attempt to address them. These challenges are not discrete problems to be solved in isolation, but interconnected expressions of geopolitical, economic, technological, and environmental forces in constant interaction.
This event brings together postgraduate researchers across Manchester to examine how we can work together to resolve interconnected global challenges in an ever-changing world.
We invite work related (but not limited) to the following themes:
· Geopolitical instability and global power shifts
· Systems thinking, transformative innovation and interdisciplinary approaches
· Climate change, environmental degradation, and resource insecurity
· Intersections of culture, identity, and power
· Technology, data, and digital infrastructures
· Equality, diversity and inclusion
Participation Options:
· Presenter: 15-min presentation, plus 5-min Q&A
· Presenter: Poster presentation session
· Audience: In-person attendance
We are committed to making this event fully accessible to all participants. If you require support for any access needs, please get in touch with us!
