Resolving issues at work
We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. Our commitment is to nurture relationships built on trust, openness, and mutual support.
When differences or disagreements arise, we encourage honest, respectful conversations that foster understanding and repair. Our goal is to provide every colleague with the opportunity to resolve concerns collaboratively, ensuring outcomes that strengthen our university and promote lasting wellbeing.
Workplace concerns may include experiences that feel unfair or challenging, such as the work environment, career progression, management approaches, or interpersonal relationships. We recognise that concerns may also arise around performance, conduct, or attendance. Our approach is to listen, understand, and work together to address these issues in a way that supports everyone’s growth and wellbeing.
We encourage colleagues to seek informal, restorative solutions—such as mediation—where concerns can be discussed in a safe, confidential space. Whenever possible, we prioritise restorative approaches to resolve concerns and support growth. Reach out to your line manager, Employee Relations, or your local People team for support in finding constructive paths forward. While formal processes are available when needed, our focus remains on learning, repair, and strengthening our University.
