Recognition

The University is proud to have a range of schemes which recognise the achievements of our staff and show our appreciation of their contributions. People & Organisational Development is responsible for the management of the Thank You Scheme, Rewarding Exceptional Performance Scheme and the Long Service Awards.  There are a number of other recognition schemes and awards managed by other areas of the University and these are usually promoted via Staffnet news and eUpdate.

Other recognition schemes

The Making a Difference Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of our staff and students and celebrate how they are making a difference.

Our annual Distinguished Achievement Awards recognise outstanding contributions by staff, who can be nominated for the following categories "Researcher of the Year", "Teacher of the Year", "PS, Library and Cultural Institutions’ Individual and Team Awards". There is also a General Distinguished Achievement Award where none of the other categories are appropriate.

Our Teaching Excellence Awards are open to academic and related staff. These focus on teaching, learning and the student experience, and provide funding for further career development. The University can also nominate candidates each year for the National Teaching Fellowship, a prestigious national scheme run by the Higher Education Academy.

There are also various awards supporting achievements such as the Green Impact Awards, Volunteer of the Year Awards, the Manchester Beacon Recognition Awards for public engagement and the Athena Swan Awards for promoting gender equality.  Please follow Staffnet news for all the latest updates.
