Parental leave is available to both adoptive and birth mothers and fathers or any employee who has legal parental responsibility for a child.
You may take up to 4 additional weeks unpaid leave a year to care for your children if you have worked at the University continuously for 12 months.
In total each parent may take up to 18 weeks leave for each of your children before your child’s 18th birthday. Leave should be taken in blocks of a week, however if your child is disabled you may take leave in single days.
If you would like to apply, please discuss this with your line manager and complete an application form. Usually you will be expected to give at least 21 calendar days notice.
