Christmas closure dates and recruitment/payroll deadlines

07 Nov 2016

Please submit documentation on time or earlier as higher than average pre-Christmas volumes are expected

Bank holidays and closure days

The final working day at the University before Christmas and New Year will be Thursday, 22 December 2016. Bank holidays and closure days are as follows:

Closure day Friday, 23 December 2016
Boxing Day Bank Holiday Monday, 26 December 2016
Bank Holiday (for Christmas Day) Tuesday, 27 December 2016
Closure day Wednesday, 28 December 2016
Closure day Thursday, 29 December 2016
Closure day Friday, 30 December 2016
Bank Holiday (for New Years Day) Monday, 2 January 2017

Recruitment advertising and new appointments

In anticipation of higher than average pre-Christmas volumes, it would be very helpful if customers could submit fully completed documentation for any recruitment advertising by Monday, 12 December 2016. The final deadline for completion prior to the Christmas closedown will be Wednesday, 14 December 2016 at 5pm.

NB: For recruitment advertising, please note that the Christmas break should be taken into account when you are planning your recruitment dates. For example, advert response rates may be impacted as potential candidates are not actively looking and applying for jobs during this time, so you may wish to delay your advertising to the New Year i.e. w/c 2 January 2017. New starters

If you are a new starter to the University and your first pay date is December 2016, please note that the deadline for receipt of New Starter Acceptances is Monday, 7 December 2016. Any paperwork received after this date will not be processed until January 2017.

Please see the relevant payroll cut-off dates for December/January below.

Christmas payrolls

As the University will be closed from Friday, 23 December 2016 until Tuesday, 3 January 2017, a number of changes have been put in place to enable payrolls to run smoothly.

In line with previous years the ‘End of Month’ Payroll and ‘Weekly’ payrolls will be paid differently to other months in the year. Please see below the changes that will be put in place and what action is required from you to support with this change.
