IT maintenance during the Easter break

26 Mar 2024

IT Services need to perform work on several systems during the Easter break, which will result in disruption to Campus Solutions, network connectivity and IT login at different times.

Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 April – Campus Solutions Student System

An update to the Campus Solutions Student System means it will be unavailable from 8am on Tuesday 2 April, to 2pm on Thursday 4 April. This work will not affect the version of Campus Solutions in the Alliance Manchester Business School used by Global MBA students.

Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 April – Network connectivity across campus

Maintenance will result in short disruption to all University network connectivity at some point between 6pm and 7pm on both Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 April. This is expected to last five minutes, however please allow up to the full hour for checks against key systems to complete.

During this time, University services including (but not limited to) IT login, Wi-Fi and wired network access on campus and in halls, University websites and the VPN will be unavailable.

Thursday 4 April – IT login

Separately to the above network connectivity work, there will be disruption to the IT login service and IT Account Manager. This will only affect services which use the Central Authentication System and Shibboleth login, including (but not limited to) Blackboard, Video Portal, and Microsoft 365 for students. It will not affect Wi-Fi nor the Microsoft login system, for example, the IT Support Portal, MyView, GlobalProtect or Microsoft 365 for staff.

From 6pm on Thursday 4 April, the service is expected to be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes, however please allow up to 8.30pm for the work to complete.

Anyone who is already logged in to systems such as Blackboard and the Video Portal will remain logged in; it is only new IT logins and access to the IT Account Manager which will be affected during this time.

Further information:

IT colleagues will be monitoring services throughout and after each piece of work to ensure everything returns to service as expected.

If you experience any issues after work has been completed, please telephone the IT Support Centre (24/7) on 0161 306 5544.
