Manchester University Press (MUP) is delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted for the Academic, Educational and Professional Publisher of the Year at the British Book Awards 2024.

The publishers shortlisted for this award in 2024 are:

  • Bloomsbury
  • Boydell & Brewer
  • Bristol University Press
  • Class Publishing
  • Collins
  • Edward Elgar Publishing
  • Emerald Publishing
  • Manchester University Press
  • Scholastic

Of Manchester University Press’ submissions, the judges said: "Manchester took big steps up the university press ladder in 2023, and strong growth in e-books and rights show its evolution into a digital and international publisher. Its arts and cultural studies list is increasingly visible in the trade too, backed up by excellent marketing and publicity that delivered best-ever TCM sales."

MUP’s Sales and Marketing Director, Chris Hart, had the following to say of the news: "Our submission this year highlighted our achievements in trade books, marking a significant milestone in our journey as a publisher. Despite being only four years since the launch of the trade programme, we've already made excellent progress. I am very proud of what we have achieved so far and I have every confidence that we will continue to reach new heights."

The British Book Awards, aka The Nibbies, are a celebration of books and everyone who plays a role in bringing those stories to life. The Trade Awards celebrate every step in the book creation chain, and are a snapshot of the industry’s achievements and output.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Monday 13th May 2024, which will be held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London and online.
