Manchester ranks high in school governor registrations

21 Jan 2013

A new league table shows that Manchester is fourth in the country for school governor registrations via School Governors’ One-Stop Shop (SGOSS), ranking higher than many famous names in the private and public sector.

UMSGI recruitment event in November 2012

SGOSS, the University’s partner charity in its School Governor Initiative (UMSGI), had already confirmed that we were the leading employer in the North West for state-school governor recruitment and this ranking shows where our campaign sits in relation to other top employers across the whole of the UK.

Manchester is the only member of the Russell Group and the campus-based HE sector more generally to appear in the top 20.

Head of Social Responsibility Julian Skyrme said: “This is a real credit to all our staff who have enthusiastically taken up these opportunities outside of working hours - and says something important and impressive about their values and culture.”
