Rare live performance of Messiaen’s show-stopping song-cycle Harawi

28 Nov 2012

Free concert on Thursday 29 November (1.10-2.15pm) in The Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall, The Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama.

Walter Carroll Lunchtime Concert - Gweneth Ann Jeffers and Simon Lepper

A vocal and pianistic marathon of virtuosity and endurance, Messiaen’s show-stopping song-cycle Harawi of 1945 is seldom heard live. It is the first work in the composer’s so-called ‘Tristan Trilogy’, which share themes of Love and Death.

This is Messiaen at his most uncompromising - from the exotic and sensuous to the thumping and raw!

Please note that this concert will finish at 2.15pm.
