Free feast of sights, tastes, sounds and smells along Curry Mile

Un-Convention: Upstairs on the Curry Mile on 11 November (12 noon – 1am) at Antwerp Mansion, Café Renoir, Havana Shisha Café and the streets of Rusholme.

Award-winning cultural enterprise Un-Convention - based at The University of Manchester - proudly presents a free festival along the fragrant nooks and crannies of Rusholme’s Curry Mile.

Fusing music, film and performance with the wonderful food of Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and the Middle East, this culmination of Un-Convention’s three-part event in Manchester will delight all the senses.

Featuring talks from keynote speakers, traditional and contemporary music, food, film, workshops and DJ sets celebrating Asian and Middle Eastern culture, this is a cultural extravaganza not to be missed!

A taste of things to come

During the day: The Antwerp Mansion will play host to a selection of panels and workshops, featuring subjects such as: ‘Bhangraphic! The Remix with Immigrant & Haroon K, ‘The Future of South Asian Music’; ‘Tuned On: Breaking Down the Barriers’; ‘Who cares About Asian Underground?’ and ‘Cricket, Curry and Music’.

With music industry leaders like: Rav (Panjabi Hit Squad), Sonny Ji, Reena Combo, Manga, Metz and Trix, Dr. Rajinder Dudrah (The University of Manchester), Bobby Friction (Radio 1), Nerm, Manga, Channi Singh, Stephen Budd and Zak Biddu.

At night expect to see: Bobby Friction (Radio 1), Symbiz (Berlin), Martina Topley-Bird, MCs Metz and Trix, Punjabi Hitsquad, Satellite State Disko, Vintage Indian and Balkan Film screenings, vintage Bhangra performance, Aziz Ibrahim, Ajah UK, Jaydev plus delicious Indian Street Food from Chaat Cart and live dhol drumming through the streets of Rusholme.

Entrance to the event is limited and early booking is advised.
