Celebrating The University of Manchester's Queen’s Anniversary Prize

13 Apr 2012

... in the Diamond Jubilee Round for its nuclear research and skills training for the industry.

The President receiving the award from the Queen

In November of last year we learnt that the University’s Dalton Nuclear Institute was to be awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its world-leading applied research to support government, regulators and industry in the delivery of safe and secure nuclear energy nationally and overseas, and for its success in building a powerful skills capacity through its undergraduate and postgraduate level training, professional development and schools’ outreach.

The President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, and the Director of the Dalton Nuclear Institute, Professor Andrew Sherry, received the commemorative Prize Medal and Certificate from The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace last month. The awards are the UK’s most prestigious form of national recognition for UK academic or vocational institutions.

On Tuesday 1 May 2012, The University of Manchester will hold a celebration to honour the achievements of all those who have contributed to the success of nuclear. Professor Rothwell will be delighted if you are able to attend this very special occasion.
