New Out of Hours Service Desk for IT or Library Enquiries

IT Services are pleased to announce that the University is now providing an Out of Hours Service Desk for both IT Service Desk and Library Enquiries.

The new service is available to both students and staff and runs in conjunction with the existing Library and IT Service Desks to provide telephone support 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year.

The Out of Hours Service Desk can be contacted by calling the usual University of Manchester IT Service Desk or Library Enquiries telephone numbers. If you call outside of the normal opening hours, your call will automatically be diverted to the Out of Hours Service Desk.

Please note, the Library Electronic Resources Help Desk (0161 275 7388) number will also divert to the Out of Hours Service Desk when their office is closed.

The Out of Hours Service Desk is operated by Northumbria University, in Newcastle upon Tyne. To maximise support levels offered to University of Manchester students and staff, we have provided Northumbria University with detailed training and information on how our systems and services work; along with limited IT system access to allow some control over IT account maintenance. Combined with their general expertise in IT and Library support, we believe this partnership will offer a valuable service in accommodating the flexible working hours and varying international locations of our staff and students.

Details supplied during the course of managing requests will be stored by Northumbria University. This information will be reported back to The University of Manchester Library and IT teams to offer further assistance in fulfilling requests, if required.
