Blackboard spaces to support teaching for Semester 2

24 Jan 2012

Help with activating your course and making it ready for teaching.

All Bb9 courses that have been activated for Semester 2 (with a start date of 30 January) are now visible to students. Please make sure your Bb9 space has the appropriate content for the start of semester.

If you have not yet activated your course please do so immediately. If you need help and advice in getting your course ready for the start of semester, please contact your eLearning team at:

From 30 January, your Semester 2 course will have moved from the Future tab to the Current tab.

See ‘Blackboard and the Start of Semester 2 2011/2012’ for how to activate or roll forward your course.

Once your course is activated and populated, you should take the following action in order to ensure it is ready for teaching.

  1. Insert a link to TALIS reading list
  2. Check all assessments in your course
  3. Set up any student groups and adaptive release rules
  4. Start using Bb9 alongside your face to face teaching. During your first teaching session, tell your students how Bb9 will be used in your course.

If a student can't see your course:

  1. Check you have activated / rolled forward your course
  2. Remind students that it can take up to 24 hours after enrolling to see their courses
  3. Ask them to review the FAQ: Access Bb9 (STUDENTS) in the Knowledge Base and contact the IT Servicedesk if they are still experiencing problems.

Please review the full ‘Blackboard and the Start of Semester 2 2011/2012’ article available on the Knowledge Base.
