Places available on Teaching Excellence Seminar on 6 April

09 Mar 2011

Using Mobile Phones for Interactive Teaching

On 6 April, the Teaching and Learning Support Office is hosting a short seminar led by Geoff Rubner, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, one of the 2011 Teaching Excellece Award winners.

Geoff will be talking about the MRS (Mobile Response System) - an electronic voting system that replaces traditional hand-held 'clicker' devices with student's own mobile phones. The system can be used to conduct surveys or in-class quiz-style question sessions. Responses can be given by SMS text message or with a smartphone/laptop, and optionally return personalized feedback to the user. The presentation will include a live demonstration of the system.

The session will be held from 1-2pm on 6 April.

Places are strictly limited so if you would like to attend, please email:

  • Paul Greenham at paul.greenham@manchester.ac.uk, with your name, school and contact details (including mobile phone number for session participation)
