Streetwise Opera Open Mic Night - free admission

02 Mar 2011

On Wednesday 30 March (7-9pm) at The Manchester Museum

Streetwise Opera is hosting a free Open Mic Night featuring Streetwise Opera performers from The Booth Centre alongside members of the public. Come along for an uplifting experience of extraordinary talent from unexpected performers. Cheer, join in with a sing-a-long or even sign-up to take a solo slot! We will also be screening the films from our latest production, Fables - A Film Opera.

Streetwise Opera uses music as a tool to help people who have experienced homelessness move forward in their lives. Winner of a Royal Philharmonic Society Award, Gramophone Award and the Andy Ludlow Homelessness Award, Streetwise Opera runs a music programme in 11 centres across England with over 600 people per year.

In Manchester we have been running a music programme every week at The Booth Centre since April 2010. This programme involves weekly singing and drama workshops; a schedule of regular performances and theatre trips and a Work Placement Scheme that organises work experience for our performers in arts organisation. Our Manchester programme is run in Artistic Partnership with Opera North.
