Amazing summer offers at the Sugden Sports Centre

Members of staff and students are invited to take advantage of these amazing deals being offered by the Sugden Sports Centre:

  • Six-week membership just £30
  • Buy three- or six-month memberships get one month free
  • Buy a nine-month membership and get three months free

All memberships include access to a large 100 station fitness suite and unlimited entry to any of the workout classes. Offers end 31 July 2010.

What are you doing with your spare time?

If you want to invest some of your spare time in the local community and have an active interest in sport, then the Sports Volunteer Scheme can provide you with opportunities to help you get involved! You could be rewarded with recognised volunteering certificates, financial contributions towards National Governing Body qualifications and free sports kit. If you are already volunteering for a local school or community sports team, then you could be missing out by not being part of the scheme.

Free weekly campus walks work wonders!

SPORT and Get Walking Keep Walking have teamed up to offer you a FREE campus walk, every Tuesday. Walking is an excellent form of exercise that can help you stay healthy, live longer, control weight, relax and fight stress. The one hour walk will start at 12.30pm from Dover Street Building.

Pick up a FREE pedometer and 12-week walking plan from the SPORT Head office, William Kay House, 333 Oxford Road (opposite the Students' Union) open 9.30am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All you have to do is fill out a Get Walking Keep Walking registration form.

Register for parkrun and receive 10% discount at Sweatshop

Get fit, meet new people or train for a marathon, everyone is welcome at Parkrun. The South Manchester 5K Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning, starting and finishing at the Lakeside Centre in Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield. The run is ideal for complete beginners or club runners and you can build yourself up every week to try and achieve your personal best.

Places remaining on Ashtanga Yoga course

Only a few places remain on the Ashatnga Yoga course which takes place every Thursday from 5pm to 6.30pm in the Wellbeing Room. Ashtanga Yoga is a powerful and challenging form of yoga, using dynamic moves and constantly flowing repetitive movements to lengthen and strengthen the muscles. There are just five weeks left of this course, so prices will be reduced accordingly.
