Start the day with a 'pick-me-up': join FREE car sharing scheme.

25 Feb 2008

You can also cut the cost of parking with a 'car share' permit.

Did you know that over 70% of vehicles in the morning peak have only ONE occupant?

To help increase numbers sharing, The University of Manchester participates in a Higher Education Precinct
(HEP) car share scheme.

The scheme, in partnership with MMU, The Central NHS Trust and The Royal Northern College of Music, is a great way to cut your travelling costs and help the environment. The scheme is strictly for those staff within the HEP, and working together increases your chances of finding a match.

We currently have over 280 members and the scheme is about to be publicised across all four organisations.

Sign up for FREE and see if you could share - even if it is only once a week.

The site has all the information on how the scheme works and on confidentiality (you decide who to get in touch with and you can offer and/or seek a lift).

You can sign up and/or find out more at:

To register, click on 'Register now for FREE' and then choose our 'Special Group', which is 'SORT It with car shareGM' (SORT IT stands for: Staff on Oxford Road Travel Plan, Intelligent Thinking).

Once signed up you will need to sign in to search for matches - it doesn't happen automatically.

Remember - small change, big difference!

Save on your permit cost too!

The University offers existing permit holders the option of a 'car share' permit. Two or more users will be issued with a single permit costing £240 per annum.

Car sharers supply details of their vehicles which will allow alternating car use as and when necessary. Of course, only one vehicle can be parked on site at any one time.
