Students heading for international study placements share their experiences

Study abroad

Hundreds of our students are busy making their final preparations to study abroad over the coming months; finalising their accommodation, arranging visas, booking flights and shopping for those last minute travel essentials!

The Placements and International Programmes team are running a Go Abroad campaign over the next few weeks to showcase the opportunities that students have to study abroad during their time at the University, highlighting the benefits through posters, screens, social media posts, Student News and Instagram reels in which students talk about their plans and aspirations.

Most undergraduate students have access to study abroad opportunities at some point during their degree, including the International Exchange Programme and Summer Schools.

Students on the International Exchange Programme spend either a semester or year abroad at one of hundreds of partner universities across the world, from Europe to Asia, North America and Australasia. Not only do they have the chance to experience a new country with its unique culture, customs and lifestyle but they also gain exposure to a different education style and a fresh perspective on their subject area.

Summer Schools is an opportunity for students to spend a shorter period of time abroad, during the summer break, with courses including language learning and an array of academic subject areas. Students this year are jetting off to Lyon in France, Seville in Spain, Aarhus in Denmark, Saitama in Japan and Seoul in South Korea.
