Staff benefits and wellbeing update

24 Aug 2022

The current cost of living crisis is leading to many people worrying about making ends meet in the next six months or so. These pressures can take a toll on your mental health. If you’re struggling it’s important to know that there is help out there.

The financial wellbeing page on StaffNet has pulled together support from Money Helper. This is the name of three government-backed financial guidance providers: Money Advice Service, the Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise.

You can find specific support around key areas:

  • Benefits
  • Everyday money
  • Family & care
  • Homes
  • Money troubles
  • Pensions & retirement
  • Savings
  • Work

There are also links on mental wellbeing and finances and specific debt support. We hope to be able to add more content and support in the next few weeks.

It’s important to know that if you’re struggling in any way, and for whatever reason, that there is help out there.  The University's employee assistance programme, Validium, offers confidential support. Lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year – you’ll always be able to speak to someone who can help. Calls are confidential and what you say will never be shared with anyone at the University. They provide you with free:
