University Library conducts survey of users
The University Library service is currently undertaking a user survey using the LibQUAL technique, just as the Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST libraries did prior to unification in 2004.
The LibQUAL method uses an online survey form and is based on 'gap theory', showing the gap between users' perceptions of the actual service level of various elements of the Library service, and the minimum and desired service levels.
A number of university libraries in the UK, the US and other countries also use the standardised questionnaire, making it possible to benchmark the service against those at other universities.
