Public Realm Works - Temporary revisions to pedestrian routes

14 Mar 2007

Alternative route from Oxford Rd to new multi-storey car park from 19 March

Works to the Public Realm are scheduled to commence on Monday 19 March 2007 with an overall planned project completion for May 2008.

The contractor will initially be working in the area bounded by Oxford Road, Higher Cambridge Street, Bridgeford Street and the Business School/Precinct building. This particular area of works are scheduled for completion by September 2007.

To facilitate these works and in the interests of health and safety for staff, students and visitors, the contractor will erect security fencing to enclose his work areas.

The existing footpath within Tuer Place, that provides a pedestrian route from Oxford Road to the new multi-storey car park, will fall within the contractor's work area. Therefore, an alternative route, that will run alongside the Business School and the Precinct buildings, will be created as an alternative pedestrian route.

There will be no direct pedestrian access from Bridgeford Street, across into the Tuer Place area, during this first phase of works.

The Capital Projects Group would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any short term inconvenience this may cause and would request that directional signs and health and safety guidance provided by the contractor is strictly adhered to at all times.
