This event is being run as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science and will be run in conjunction with The Guardian's Free Our Data Campaign.

Should social researchers have unlimited access to the data that Government collects about individual UK citizens? Would the benefits of better evidence on which to base social policy outweigh concerns about privacy?Experts from academia and government will offer their views and respond to questions from the audience.

Join a discussion of these issues and more by a panel of academic and government experts, chaired by Jim Hancock, former Political Editor, BBC North West.

There is no charge for this event, but admission is by ticket only.
