Making Pregnancy Safer

02 Mar 2007

First-time mums having babies at St Mary's wanted for new research study

I am a Research Midwife based at the Maternal & Fetal Health Research Centre at St Mary's Hospital. Professor Philip Baker and I are starting a new research study called MAPS (Making Pregnancy Safer). The study is part of a global study called SCOPE:

We need to recruit 10,000 women worldwide to help to create a screening test for pre-eclampsia, babies born small for gestational age and babies born prematurely.  I need to recruit 200 first time mums who are having their babies at St Mary's, they need to be less than 16 weeks pregnant and generally healthy.

Ethics approval reference no: 06/MRE0 1/98.

If you would like to take part in the study, please contact me at:

Many thanks
