Participants required for study on film perception.

15 Jan 2008

Seeking female, native British English speakers, 20-50 years.

I am a PhD student at the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures, and I am looking for volunteers to take part in a study of how viewers understand certain aspects of films via the perception of dialogue, visual information and non-verbal soundtrack.

Participation will involve two phases: In phase 1, participants will watch 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (2001) and will be asked to answer a questionnaire. In phase 2, participants will watch the sequel 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' (2004) and again answer a questionnaire. The study will take place in the last two weeks of January.

A small reward will be given at the end.

You can participate if you are:

  • native speaker of British English
  • female
  • 20 to 50 years old (plus/minus one year)
    and
  • have seen neither 'Bridget Jones's Diary' nor 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason'

If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact the researcher Louisa Desilla at:
