University car park charges

15 Dec 2016

Car park permit charges for University staff are to increase slightly from 1 February 2017 following a review by the Directorate of Estates and Facilities

Booth Street West MSCP

This is the first increase in charges since 2007 and is necessary to fund investments in improvements and ongoing maintenance of the University’s car parks.

The new charges will increase annually in line with each review, the most recent being 1.1%.

This will mean that actual increases for those staff who pay monthly will range from 13 pence to 33 pence each month depending on salary. These will be deducted from February’s pay.

Part-time and infrequent car park users who use a 21 visit `hit’ card will see an increase of just one pence per visit.

A full table of staff parking charges is available at:

The University charges remain significantly below those of commercial car parks and those of other large employers in the area.

Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities, Kenny Nolan, said: ”We have not had any increase in parking charges since 2007 but this small increase will help us to provide secure and well-maintained and operated facilities. We have worked to ensure that the increase is fair and that the impact is minimal.”
