Full closure of Oxford Road between Brunswick Street and Booth Street East/West

24 Nov 2016

The above section of Oxford Road will be closed in both directions for resurfacing between Saturday, 26 November and Sunday, 4 December, inclusive

Oxford Road

To ensure that the work can be carried out as safely and efficiently as possible, Oxford Road will be fully closed between Brunswick Street up to and including the junctions of Booth Street East and West. This is necessary to allow work to continue on the junction, following on from the last phase of resurfacing.

All traffic, including buses and cyclists, will be advised to use temporary diversion routes.

Booth Street is an important east-west crossing point for drivers so Transport for Greater DManchester (TfGM) have worked with their contractor to ensure that this junction will be open during the week and that the closure will only takes place at the weekend.

The Booth Street junction will only be closed on the weekends of 26/27 November and 3/4 December. The section on Oxford Road, from Brunswick Street up to the Booth Street junction, will be closed throughout the period.

Drivers will be helped with on-highway diversion signs on surrounding routes so they can take early steps to avoid the area. There will be more local diversion signs in place to help with those who require access.

Buses will also be affected by the closure and will instead use Hathersage Road and Upper Brook Street when travelling in to the city. To improve bus journey times during this period, the recommended route for general traffic heading into the City from the Fallowfield end will be to turn off at Dickinson Road before joining Upper Brook Street. Drivers heading away from the city will also be directed onto Upper Brook Street.

Details of the bus diversions and a map are available at:
