A warm - and distinctive - welcome to our new students

15 Sep 2016

A new and exciting venture is about to launch at the University, as we welcome our new first year undergraduate students

Stellify

Sustainability Challenge 2016

For the first time, all of our new first year undergraduate students are being invited to take part in the Sustainability Challenge 2016 on Tuesday, 20 September 2016.

Staff can play an important role in the success of the Sustainability Challenge by ensuring that students in your Faculty or School take part and your academic and support staff are fully aware of this new initiative and make every effort to encourage our new UG students to attend.

Find out more about supporting and encouraging students to take part in the Sustainability Challenge.

Stellify

Stellify is the student-facing output of The Manchester Advantage Project, which aims to emphasise what is distinctive about a Manchester graduate, supporting the 2020 goal of delivering an ‘outstanding learning and student experience’.

Stellify brings together a whole host of extra and co-curricular activities that students can explore and benefit from at Manchester, which give them the chance to broaden horizons, understand the issues that matter and step up to make a difference to the local and global community.

Throughout their degree, all of our students will be encouraged, through Stellify, to take part in the unique opportunities available to them as Manchester students.

Manchester Leadership Award

After they have taken part in the Sustainability Challenge, participants will learn that they have taken the all-important first step in achieving the Manchester Leadership Award.

Undergraduates entering the University in 2016 will be eligible for the new Manchester Leadership Award, to be gained by completing a specific set of activities throughout their undergraduate career, focusing on understanding the issues that matter, making a difference, and stepping up to lead. The award will enable them to stand out as someone who has developed the qualities and values of strong ethical leadership, whatever form that may take.

Stellify, together with The Manchester Leadership Award, is a major transformational undertaking for the University.  We hope you will support and promote it within your area and play an important part in embedding it into the fabric of our student experience.
