Is it more than two years since you completed Data Protection training?

19 Jul 2016

Then it's time to sign up for refresher training to comply with guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

Following recent ICO guidance to other Higher Education Institutions, in addition to Data Protection training being mandatory for all staff, they have also advised that regular refresher training be completed as well.

In line with this, the University’s Information Security Governance Group agreed that the online Data Protection course must be completed by all staff with an active IT account, on a two-yearly basis.

Staff who completed the course more than two years ago should now undertake it again. Staff members with active IT accounts who have not yet completed the training, should do so as soon as possible.

The following link will take you to the course details in the University’s Training Catalogue:

Please read the instructions and then click on the “Apply” button at the bottom of the page. This will add the course to your “My Training and Development” profile. You will then receive an immediate email with a link to the course.

Once you have finished the course, you will receive an email confirming that you have successfully completed the course and it is important that you forward it to your local Data Protection Guardian for audit purposes.

If you are unsure when you last completed the training, please access your ‘My Training and Development’ profile (via My Manchester), and this will detail the dates of any courses that you have completed.
