Veronique Rizzuto is doing the Great Manchester Run for Building Hope

20 Apr 2016

On Sunday 22 May 2016, Veronique will be joining the University's Purple Wave as she takes on the Great Manchester Run to raise money for 'Building Hope'

Building hope is a charity that Veronique set up 11 years ago after a trip to Ethiopia working as a volunteer. Veronique was so struck by the abject poverty, misery and despair of young people in particular that she was determined to help build a better life for some of the people she met. The charity’s main achievements are the construction and furnishing of a library and latrines at Karagutu School and the building of homes for some of the leprosy families living in Dessie.

The money raised will be used to help improve sanitation at Tita School where there are only four latrines for over 1,000 pupils.
