Our policy@manchester initiative in running for External Relations Programme of the Year Educate North Award

An initiative to help our researchers better engage with policymakers has been shortlisted for an education award.

The University’s policy@manchester has been shortlisted for External Relations Programme of the Year in the Educate North Awards for its work to engage policymakers and influencers through Manchester Policy Week and Manchester Policy Blogs – and a host of other successful activity.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Hilton Hotel in Manchester, on the evening of Thursday, 21 April.

policy@manchester is based in the Faculty of Humanities, but works with researchers across the University to help them engage with and influence policymakers. It has been instrumental in bringing key policy influencers to the University, and for achieving better engagement with Parliamentary Select Committees and government policy decisions.

Policy Week 2015 featured 32 events with 134 speakers, and attracted 850 attendees from across the region and further afield. It had the theme of Science, Technology and Public Policy, and was part of Manchester European City of Science 2016. It also attracted hundreds of virtual attendees through its social media and online engagement.
