University service to help schools and colleges – and improve our students’ experience

The University’s Student Development and Community Engagement Division, through which our students get involved in a range of community activities, is offering its services to schools in Manchester and around the region.

It is especially looking for the opportunity to get involved in one-off volunteering opportunities.

In the past, activities have included green projects helping to build school allotments and gardens, activity sessions on particular themes such as health and support for events such as World Book Day.

It can work with schools to:

  • Identify where University student volunteers can provide support to existing or new activities;
  • Develop tailored volunteering opportunities that meet your specific needs;
  • Engage university student volunteers for one-off events, or on a short term or long term basis, helping to inspire, inform and support pupils at your school, college or sixth form.

The work also improves the students’ skills and their experience of learning here at Manchester.
